Writing as a recursive process is never something I really did before this class. What is entitled to writing as a recursive process requires substantial revision of drats for content, clarity, and organization, as well as editing and proofreading local revision style. When I was told that I would be graded on this aspect of writing I didn’t know what it entailed. After completing all of the projects it was intriguing to go back and see how my paper developed through the changes I made. For instance, my social media project. I demonstrated and experimented with moving around my paragraphs, and finding new research to add into my work. Looking back at my first draft and final you can actually see the development of my paper. I became very open with the idea that the first draft will not be perfect and that it’s fun to move around your words until you find that perfect place for them. No first draft is going to contain the exact thought you are trying to reach, because one’s thought can often be hard to put onto paper. “Experienced writers describe their primary objective when revising as finding the form or shape of their argument.” Nancy Sommers stated. I agree with that statement. I believe that revision isn’t just looking for local mistakes, such as grammar or misspelled words, but rather finding the appropriate words and sentence structure for your thoughts. When I revised my social media project I moved around paragraphs, and played with my words to find the most efficient way of stating my claim. Moreover, I focused on the structure of my paper first, and lastly the grammatical errors.
